Announcing the First Annual Fledgling Fund and Chicken & Egg Pictures Grantee Residency
Working Films is accepting applications for the first annual Fledgling Fund and Chicken & Egg Pictures Grantee Residency to be held in the beautiful Hudson Valley at the LifeBridge Sanctuary Retreat Center, August 12-15, 2009. Eight filmmakers will be selected to participate in this interactive retreat focused on the nuts & bolts of audience and community engagement campaigning for non-fiction films.
Working Films Opens UK Office

Working Films is excited to announce the opening of Working Films UK, a London office in partnership with the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation – extending the services of Working Films to filmmakers in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Since 2007, the Working Films team has collaborated with BRITDOC on filmmaker trainings, strategy summits for feature documentaries, festival workshops and, most recently, the foundation’s very first North American Good Pitch at Hot Docs.
Social Justice Film Conference Tour Comes to Jackson, MS
Reel Justice, a film conference on media activism will kick-off its national tour in Jackson, MS at Tougaloo College from Friday, March 27, 2009 at 6PM through Saturday, March 28, 2009. Sponsored by Working Films and the Andrus Family Fund, the conference focuses on models for community reconciliation as a response to violence, and in particular police brutality, racially motivated violence and violence against women.
The Content + Intent Documentary Institute Working Films Residency at MASS MoCA
Calling all filmmakers who want to use film as a catalyst for progressive social change! Working Films is accepting applications for its five-day residency for documentary filmmakers at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). The residency, which is called the Content + Intent Documentary Institute, will take place March 11-15, 2009 in North Adams, MA.
