Operations and Finance Assistant
Working Films is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented part-time Operations and Finance Assistant to join our team in Wilmington, North Carolina. This position will support Working Films’ administrative and operational activities.
Working Films was one of the first institutions using documentary film to raise public consciousness and make an impact. Eighteen years later, we are engaging communities nationwide in efforts to advance social justice and environmental protection.
The Operations and Finance Assistant will support Working Films mission and programs by providing critical administrative support. They will work in deep collaboration with other team members, especially the co-directors based in our Wilmington office.
Details of the Position:
Part Time – 20 hours minimum per week, hourly position starting at $20.00 per hour.
Benefits – This job includes paid holidays, pro-rated vacation and prorated paid family/medical leave (based on our package of full-time benefits).
The Operations and Finance Assistant will be responsible for providing general administrative support as needed, including but not limited to:
Office Management: support day-to-day operations of the organization; maintain organizational files and documents, schedule and travel coordination for staff, occassional logistics support for events such as board meetings or trainings, Management of relationships with vendors and suppliers, act as first point of contact for the organization via phone and for general email inquiries.
Fiscal Systems Coordination: Provide basic bookkeeping – including writing checks, entering transactions, and producing reports in Quickbooks (We have an external bookeeper who conducts monthly reconciliations, handles taxes, etc); maintain accurate fiscal records, including those for grants and fundraising materials; support codirectos in preparation for the annual audit.
Fundraising and Communications Support: Support administration and scheduling related to fundraising, development, and donor engagement. Assist with creation of e-newsletters and other communications, make website updates; Assist with donor communications, including appeal and thank you letters
We are looking for candidates with:
At least three years of relevant experience: development, operations, fiscal and/or fundraising support experience, ideally in a nonprofit environment.
Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
Proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, QuickBooks, Dropbox, Google Drive, email programs such as constant contact, WordPress, Salesforce, Asana.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
Enthusiasm for Working Films’ mission to catalyze the use of documentary film for social, environmental, and racial justice.
